There Was A Crooked Man - CS - Piano sheet music
Those who like to find deeper meaning in nursery rhymes have suggested that this simple rhyme in fact, refers to an agreement which secured political and religious freedom in Scotland in the 1600's. Supposedly, General Sir Alexander Leslie of Scotland was the 'crooked man', the 'crooked sixpence' was Charles I, and the 'crooked stile' was the English-Scottish border.
